Now it came to pass, when AdonizedekH139 kingH4428 of JerusalemH3389 had heardH8085 howH3588 JoshuaH3091 had takenH3920 AiH5857, and had utterly destroyedH2763 it; as he had doneH6213 to JerichoH3405 and her kingH4428, so he had doneH6213 to AiH5857 and her kingH4428; and how the inhabitantsH3427 of GibeonH1391 had made peaceH7999 with IsraelH3478, and were amongH7130 them;2That they fearedH3372 greatlyH3966, because GibeonH1391 was a greatH1419 cityH5892, as oneH259 of the royalH4467 citiesH5892, and because it was greaterH1419 than AiH5857, and all the menH582 thereof were mightyH1368.3Wherefore AdonizedekH139 kingH4428 of JerusalemH3389 sentH7971 unto HohamH1944 kingH4428 of HebronH2275, and unto PiramH6502 kingH4428 of JarmuthH3412, and unto JaphiaH3309 kingH4428 of LachishH3923, and unto DebirH1688 kingH4428 of EglonH5700, sayingH559,4Come upH5927 unto me, and helpH5826 me, that we may smiteH5221 GibeonH1391: for it hath made peaceH7999 with JoshuaH3091 and with the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478.5Therefore the fiveH2568 kingsH4428 of the AmoritesH567, the kingH4428 of JerusalemH3389, the kingH4428 of HebronH2275, the kingH4428 of JarmuthH3412, the kingH4428 of LachishH3923, the kingH4428 of EglonH5700, gathered themselves togetherH622, and went upH5927, they and all their hostsH4264, and encampedH2583 before GibeonH1391, and made warH3898 against it.

6And the menH582 of GibeonH1391 sentH7971 unto JoshuaH3091 to the campH4264 to GilgalH1537, sayingH559, SlackH7503 not thy handH3027 from thy servantsH5650; come upH5927 to us quicklyH4120, and saveH3467 us, and helpH5826 us: for all the kingsH4428 of the AmoritesH567 that dwellH3427 in the mountainsH2022 are gathered togetherH6908 against us.7So JoshuaH3091 ascendedH5927 from GilgalH1537, he, and all the peopleH5971 of warH4421 with him, and all the mightyH1368 men of valourH2428.8And the LORDH3068 saidH559 unto JoshuaH3091, FearH3372 them not: for I have deliveredH5414 them into thine handH3027; there shall not a manH376 of them standH5975 beforeH6440 thee.9JoshuaH3091 therefore cameH935 unto them suddenlyH6597, and went upH5927 from GilgalH1537 all nightH3915.

10And the LORDH3068 discomfitedH2000 them beforeH6440 IsraelH3478, and slewH5221 them with a greatH1419 slaughterH4347 at GibeonH1391, and chasedH7291 them along the wayH1870 that goeth upH4608 to BethhoronH1032, and smoteH5221 them to AzekahH5825, and unto MakkedahH4719.11And it came to pass, as they fledH5127 from beforeH6440 IsraelH3478, and were in the going downH4174 to BethhoronH1032, that the LORDH3068 cast downH7993 greatH1419 stonesH68 from heavenH8064 upon them unto AzekahH5825, and they diedH4191: they were moreH7227 which diedH4191 with hailstonesH1259 H68 than they whomH834 the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478 slewH2026 with the swordH2719.

12Then spakeH1696 JoshuaH3091 to the LORDH3068 in the dayH3117 when the LORDH3068 delivered upH5414 the AmoritesH567 beforeH6440 the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478, and he saidH559 in the sightH5869 of IsraelH3478, SunH8121, stand thou stillH1826 upon GibeonH1391; and thou, MoonH3394, in the valleyH6010 of AjalonH357.13And the sunH8121 stood stillH1826, and the moonH3394 stayedH5975, until the peopleH1471 had avengedH5358 themselves upon their enemiesH341. Is not thisH1931 writtenH3789 in the bookH5612 of JasherH3477? 16But these fiveH2568 kingsH4428 fledH5127, and hidH2244 themselves in a caveH4631 at MakkedahH4719.17And it was toldH5046 JoshuaH3091, sayingH559, The fiveH2568 kingsH4428 are foundH4672 hidH2244 in a caveH4631 at MakkedahH4719.18And JoshuaH3091 saidH559, RollH1556 greatH1419 stonesH68 upon the mouthH6310 of the caveH4631, and setH6485 menH582 by it for to keepH8104 them:19And stayH5975 ye not, but pursueH7291 afterH310 your enemiesH341, and smite the hindmostH2179 of them; sufferH5414 them not to enterH935 into their citiesH5892: for the LORDH3068 your GodH430 hath deliveredH5414 them into your handH3027.20And it came to pass, when JoshuaH3091 and the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478 had made an endH3615 of slayingH5221 them with a veryH3966 greatH1419 slaughterH4347, till they were consumedH8552, that the restH8300 which remainedH8277 of them enteredH935 into fencedH4013 citiesH5892.21And all the peopleH5971 returnedH7725 to the campH4264 to JoshuaH3091 at MakkedahH4719 in peaceH7965: none movedH2782 his tongueH3956 against anyH376 of the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478.

22Then saidH559 JoshuaH3091, OpenH6605 the mouthH6310 of the caveH4631, and bring outH3318 those fiveH2568 kingsH4428 unto me out of the caveH4631.23And they didH6213 so, and brought forthH3318 those fiveH2568 kingsH4428 unto him out of the caveH4631, the kingH4428 of JerusalemH3389, the kingH4428 of HebronH2275, the kingH4428 of JarmuthH3412, the kingH4428 of LachishH3923, and the kingH4428 of EglonH5700.

24And it came to pass, when they brought outH3318 those kingsH4428 unto JoshuaH3091, that JoshuaH3091 calledH7121 for all the menH376 of IsraelH3478, and saidH559 unto the captainsH7101 of the menH582 of warH4421 which wentH1980 with him, Come nearH7126, putH7760 your feetH7272 upon the necksH6677 of these kingsH4428. And they came nearH7126, and putH7760 their feetH7272 upon the necksH6677 of them.25And JoshuaH3091 saidH559 unto them, FearH3372 not, nor be dismayedH2865, be strongH2388 and of good courageH553: for thus shall the LORDH3068 doH6213 to all your enemiesH341 against whom ye fightH3898.

26And afterwardH310 JoshuaH3091 smoteH5221 them, and slewH4191 them, and hangedH8518 them on fiveH2568 treesH6086: and they were hangingH8518 upon the treesH6086 until the eveningH6153.27And it came to pass at the timeH6256 of the going downH935 of the sunH8121, that JoshuaH3091 commandedH6680, and they took them downH3381 off the treesH6086, and castH7993 them into the caveH4631 wherein they had been hidH2244, and laidH7760 greatH1419 stonesH68 in the cave'sH4631 mouthH6310, which remain until this veryH6106 dayH3117.

28And that dayH3117 JoshuaH3091 tookH3920 MakkedahH4719, and smoteH5221 it with the edgeH6310 of the swordH2719, and the kingH4428 thereof he utterly destroyedH2763, them, and all the soulsH5315 that were therein; he letH7604 none remainH8300: and he didH6213 to the kingH4428 of MakkedahH4719 as he didH6213 unto the kingH4428 of JerichoH3405.29Then JoshuaH3091 passedH5674 from MakkedahH4719, and all IsraelH3478 with him, unto LibnahH3841, and foughtH3898 against LibnahH3841:30And the LORDH3068 deliveredH5414 it also, and the kingH4428 thereof, into the handH3027 of IsraelH3478; and he smoteH5221 it with the edgeH6310 of the swordH2719, and all the soulsH5315 that were therein; he letH7604 none remainH8300 in it; but didH6213 unto the kingH4428 thereof as he didH6213 unto the kingH4428 of JerichoH3405.31And JoshuaH3091 passedH5674 from LibnahH3841, and all IsraelH3478 with him, unto LachishH3923, and encampedH2583 against it, and foughtH3898 against it:32And the LORDH3068 deliveredH5414 LachishH3923 into the handH3027 of IsraelH3478, which tookH3920 it on the secondH8145 dayH3117, and smoteH5221 it with the edgeH6310 of the swordH2719, and all the soulsH5315 that were therein, according to all that he had doneH6213 to LibnahH3841.33Then HoramH2036 kingH4428 of GezerH1507 came upH5927 to helpH5826 LachishH3923; and JoshuaH3091 smoteH5221 him and his peopleH5971, until he had leftH7604 him none remainingH8300.34And from LachishH3923 JoshuaH3091 passedH5674 unto EglonH5700, and all IsraelH3478 with him; and they encampedH2583 against it, and foughtH3898 against it:35And they tookH3920 it on that dayH3117, and smoteH5221 it with the edgeH6310 of the swordH2719, and all the soulsH5315 that were therein he utterly destroyedH2763 that dayH3117, according to all that he had doneH6213 to LachishH3923.36And JoshuaH3091 went upH5927 from EglonH5700, and all IsraelH3478 with him, unto HebronH2275; and they foughtH3898 against it:37And they tookH3920 it, and smoteH5221 it with the edgeH6310 of the swordH2719, and the kingH4428 thereof, and all the citiesH5892 thereof, and all the soulsH5315 that were therein; he leftH7604 none remainingH8300, according to all that he had doneH6213 to EglonH5700; but destroyedH2763 it utterly, and all the soulsH5315 that were therein.38And JoshuaH3091 returnedH7725, and all IsraelH3478 with him, to DebirH1688; and foughtH3898 against it:39And he tookH3920 it, and the kingH4428 thereof, and all the citiesH5892 thereof; and they smoteH5221 them with the edgeH6310 of the swordH2719, and utterly destroyedH2763 all the soulsH5315 that were therein; he leftH7604 none remainingH8300: as he had doneH6213 to HebronH2275, so he didH6213 to DebirH1688, and to the kingH4428 thereof; as he had doneH6213 also to LibnahH3841, and to her kingH4428.40So JoshuaH3091 smoteH5221 all the countryH776 of the hillsH2022, and of the southH5045, and of the valeH8219, and of the springsH794, and all their kingsH4428: he leftH7604 none remainingH8300, but utterly destroyedH2763 all that breathedH5397, as the LORDH3068 GodH430 of IsraelH3478 commandedH6680.41And JoshuaH3091 smoteH5221 them from KadeshbarneaH6947 even unto GazaH5804, and all the countryH776 of GoshenH1657, even unto GibeonH1391.42And all these kingsH4428 and their landH776 did JoshuaH3091 takeH3920 at oneH259 timeH6471, because the LORDH3068 GodH430 of IsraelH3478 foughtH3898 for IsraelH3478.

43And JoshuaH3091 returnedH7725, and all IsraelH3478 with him, unto the campH4264 to GilgalH1537.
