II Chronicles 32 (kjv)
AfterH310 these thingsH1697, and the establishmentH571 thereof, SennacheribH5576 kingH4428 of AssyriaH804 cameH935, and enteredH935 into JudahH3063, and encampedH2583 against the fencedH1219 citiesH5892, and thoughtH559 to winH1234 them for himself.2And when HezekiahH3169 sawH7200 that SennacheribH5576 was comeH935, and that he was purposedH6440 to fightH4421 against JerusalemH3389,3He took counselH3289 with his princesH8269 and his mighty menH1368 to stopH5640 the watersH4325 of the fountainsH5869 which were withoutH2351 the cityH5892: and they did helpH5826 him.4So there was gatheredH6908 muchH7227 peopleH5971 togetherH6908, who stoppedH5640 all the fountainsH4599, and the brookH5158 that ranH7857 through the midstH8432 of the landH776, sayingH559, Why should the kingsH4428 of AssyriaH804 comeH935, and findH4672 muchH7227 waterH4325?5Also he strengthenedH2388 himself, and built upH1129 all the wallH2346 that was brokenH6555, and raised it upH5927 to the towersH4026, and anotherH312 wallH2346 withoutH2351, and repairedH2388 MilloH4407 in the cityH5892 of DavidH1732, and madeH6213 dartsH7973 and shieldsH4043 in abundanceH7230.6And he setH5414 captainsH8269 of warH4421 over the peopleH5971, and gathered them togetherH6908 to him in the streetH7339 of the gateH8179 of the cityH5892, and spakeH1696 comfortablyH3824 to them, sayingH559,7Be strongH2388 and courageousH553, be not afraidH3372 nor dismayedH2865 forH6440 the kingH4428 of AssyriaH804, nor for all the multitudeH1995 that is with him: for there be moreH7227 with us than with him:8With him is an armH2220 of fleshH1320; but with us is the LORDH3068 our GodH430 to helpH5826 us, and to fightH3898 our battlesH4421. And the peopleH5971 restedH5564 themselves upon the wordsH1697 of HezekiahH3169 kingH4428 of JudahH3063.
9AfterH310 this did SennacheribH5576 kingH4428 of AssyriaH804 sendH7971 his servantsH5650 to JerusalemH3389, (but he himself laid siege against LachishH3923, and all his powerH4475 with him,) unto HezekiahH3169 kingH4428 of JudahH3063, and unto all JudahH3063 that were at JerusalemH3389, sayingH559,10Thus saithH559 SennacheribH5576 kingH4428 of AssyriaH804, Whereon do ye trustH982, that ye abideH3427 in the siegeH4692 in JerusalemH3389?11Doth not HezekiahH3169 persuadeH5496 you to giveH5414 over yourselves to dieH4191 by famineH7458 and by thirstH6772, sayingH559, The LORDH3068 our GodH430 shall deliverH5337 us out of the handH3709 of the kingH4428 of AssyriaH804?12Hath not the same HezekiahH3169 taken awayH5493 his high placesH1116 and his altarsH4196, and commandedH559 JudahH3063 and JerusalemH3389, sayingH559, Ye shall worshipH7812 beforeH6440 oneH259 altarH4196, and burn incenseH6999 upon it?13KnowH3045 ye not what I and my fathersH1 have doneH6213 unto all the peopleH5971 of other landsH776? were the godsH430 of the nationsH1471 of those landsH776 any waysH3201 ableH3201 to deliverH5337 their landsH776 out of mine handH3027?14Who was there among all the godsH430 of those nationsH1471 that my fathersH1 utterly destroyedH2763, that couldH3201 deliverH5337 his peopleH5971 out of mine handH3027, that your GodH430 should be ableH3201 to deliverH5337 you out of mine handH3027?15Now therefore let notH3808 HezekiahH2396 deceiveH5377 you, nor persuadeH5496 you on this manner, neither yet believeH539 him: for no godH433 of any nationH1471 or kingdomH4467 was ableH3201 to deliverH5337 his peopleH5971 out of mine handH3027, and out of the handH3027 of my fathersH1: how much less shall your GodH430 deliverH5337 you out of mine handH3027?16And his servantsH5650 spakeH1696 yet more against the LORDH3068 GodH430, and against his servantH5650 HezekiahH3169.17He wroteH3789 also lettersH5612 to railH2778 on the LORDH3068 GodH430 of IsraelH3478, and to speakH559 against him, sayingH559, As the godsH430 of the nationsH1471 of other landsH776 have not deliveredH5337 their peopleH5971 out of mine handH3027, so shall not the GodH430 of HezekiahH3169 deliverH5337 his peopleH5971 out of mine handH3027.18Then they criedH7121 with a loudH1419 voiceH6963 in the Jews' speechH3066 unto the peopleH5971 of JerusalemH3389 that were on the wallH2346, to affrightH3372 them, and to troubleH926 them; that they might takeH3920 the cityH5892.19And they spakeH1696 againstH5921 the GodH430 of JerusalemH3389, as against the godsH430 of the peopleH5971 of the earthH776, which were the workH4639 of the handsH3027 of manH120.20And for this cause HezekiahH3169 the kingH4428, and the prophetH5030 IsaiahH3470 the sonH1121 of AmozH531, prayedH6419 and criedH2199 to heavenH8064.
21And the LORDH3068 sentH7971 an angelH4397, which cut offH3582 all the mighty menH1368 of valourH2428, and the leadersH5057 and captainsH8269 in the campH4264 of the kingH4428 of AssyriaH804. So he returnedH7725 with shameH1322 of faceH6440 to his own landH776. And when he was comeH935 into the houseH1004 of his godH430, they that came forthH3329 of his own bowelsH4578 slewH5307 him there with the swordH2719.22Thus the LORDH3068 savedH3467 HezekiahH3169 and the inhabitantsH3427 of JerusalemH3389 from the handH3027 of SennacheribH5576 the kingH4428 of AssyriaH804, and from the handH3027 of all other, and guidedH5095 them on every sideH5439.23And manyH7227 broughtH935 giftsH4503 unto the LORDH3068 to JerusalemH3389, and presentsH4030 to HezekiahH3169 kingH4428 of JudahH3063: so that he was magnifiedH5375 in the sightH5869 of all nationsH1471 from thenceforthH310.
24In those daysH3117 HezekiahH3169 was sickH2470 to the deathH4191, and prayedH6419 unto the LORDH3068: and he spakeH559 unto him, and he gaveH5414 him a signH4159.
25But HezekiahH3169 rendered not againH7725 according to the benefitH1576 done unto him; for his heartH3820 was lifted upH1361: therefore there was wrathH7110 upon him, and upon JudahH3063 and JerusalemH3389.26Notwithstanding HezekiahH3169 humbledH3665 himself for the prideH1363 of his heartH3820, both he and the inhabitantsH3427 of JerusalemH3389, so that the wrathH7110 of the LORDH3068 cameH935 not upon them in the daysH3117 of HezekiahH3169.
27And HezekiahH3169 had exceedingH3966 muchH7235 richesH6239 and honourH3519: and he madeH6213 himself treasuriesH214 for silverH3701, and for goldH2091, and for preciousH3368 stonesH68, and for spicesH1314, and for shieldsH4043, and for all manner of pleasantH2532 jewelsH3627;28StorehousesH4543 also for the increaseH8393 of cornH1715, and wineH8492, and oilH3323; and stallsH723 for all manner of beastsH929, and cotesH220 for flocksH5739.29Moreover he providedH6213 him citiesH5892, and possessionsH4735 of flocksH6629 and herdsH1241 in abundanceH7230: for GodH430 had givenH5414 him substanceH7399 veryH3966 muchH7227.30This same HezekiahH3169 also stoppedH5640 the upperH5945 watercourseH4161 H4325 of GihonH1521, and brought it straightH3474 downH4295 to the west sideH4628 of the cityH5892 of DavidH1732. And HezekiahH3169 prosperedH6743 in all his worksH4639.
31HowbeitH3651 in the business of the ambassadorsH3887 of the princesH8269 of BabylonH894, who sentH7971 unto him to enquireH1875 of the wonderH4159 that was done in the landH776, GodH430 leftH5800 him, to tryH5254 him, that he might knowH3045 all that was in his heartH3824.
32Now the restH3499 of the actsH1697 of HezekiahH3169, and his goodnessH2617, behold, they are writtenH3789 in the visionH2377 of IsaiahH3470 the prophetH5030, the sonH1121 of AmozH531, and in the bookH5612 of the kingsH4428 of JudahH3063 and IsraelH3478.33And HezekiahH3169 sleptH7901 with his fathersH1, and they buriedH6912 him in the chiefestH4608 of the sepulchresH6913 of the sonsH1121 of DavidH1732: and all JudahH3063 and the inhabitantsH3427 of JerusalemH3389 did himH6213 honourH3519 at his deathH4194. And ManassehH4519 his sonH1121 reignedH4427 in his stead.
